Clearwater festival to return in 2019
Clearwater will hold its annual festival in June – and could host a second gathering in Beacon sometime in 2019.
That’s according to Clearwater Executive Director Greg Williams, who said the Beacon-based environmental organization’s board of directors Thursday night approved a 2019 festival proposal crafted by a committee of group members.
That approval means the gathering known as the Great Hudson River Revival will return to its traditional festival site – Croton Point Park in Westchester County – on the traditional festival dates, Father’s Day weekend. The 2019 Clearwater festival will be held June 15-16.
“I’m super excited,” Williams said. “This is something that, clearly, is important to many, if not all of our members and something that I have personally enjoyed tremendously.”
The announcement offers clarity regarding an event that was canceled in 2016 and, at times late last year, remained steeped in uncertainty.
Asked if Clearwater is starting from scratch with its 2019 festival or simply bringing back its traditional gathering, Williams said, “Anyone who has been to recent festivals will feel at home with this festival.”
As for a second festival in Dutchess County, Williams said, “We are still expecting to see and evaluate a proposal for a festival in Beacon.”
